Overview

Hey everyone, this is Lindi and Russ. We are DIYers and home renovators that have been designing and renovating for 10 years now, and over the years we’ve done a lot of furniture flips and makeovers. We also do everything on a budget, so when we saw a dresser on the side of the road during our walk, we HAD to inspect it!

We started by sanding everything down to see what we were working with. We were hoping to be able to stain the entire dresser, but unfortunately, even though the sides were real wood plywood, we weren’t able to sand or strip the paint without wrecking some of the veneer, which meant we had to paint, at least the outside of the piece.

We also decided to add some texture to the front, and used a router to create some amazing vertical grooves on all of the drawer faces. Check out the YouTube video to see how we created the texture.

When it came time to finish the piece we grabbed our favourite sprayer, the Wagner FLEXiO 3500. We used this sprayer to prime, paint, stain, and varnish the piece! One of the things we love about these sprayers is how versatile they are. It’s amazing to be able to use the same tool for every layer of finishing your piece, with a quick wash in between.

Step #3

7

We used Wagner’s PaintEasy Latex Paint Conditioner for the first time to see if it would make a difference on the finish of the piece.

Step #4

Wagner Feature

We were honestly shocked at how beautiful the paint finish came out. It looked factory-made with an incredibly smooth paint finish on the drawer fronts and the top and sides of the dresser.
